Fourth IVF

After 4 IUI and 3 IVF failures, I had been quite discouraged and had refrained from going to the hospital's fertilization department for three months.

On the 15th of Aug2013, the fist day of the Aug period, I don't know why I felt hopeful again and decided to make an appointment with the hospital. I started over an IVF procedure the next day.

The 28th of Aug2013 was the day that two eggs were retrieved.

On the 30th of Aug2013, two 4-cells embryos were transfered into my womb. It became better as there used to be only one embryo every time.

Now I have to wait for two weeks until blood test.

Second Attempt

Thu 3Jan2013 (Day 0) : First day of the period.

Fri 4Jan2013 (Day 1) : Ultrasound. It's o.k. to start an IVF process.

Sat 5Jan2013 - Tue 8Jan2013 (Day 2 - Day 5) : IVF-M 225 i.u. to be injected into my hip muscle every evening during 1800-2000LT.

Wed 9Jan2013 (Day 6) : Ultrasound. Found 2 eggs; 12mm and 9mm. Uterus wall has 8.5mm thickness. IVF-M 225 i.u. to be injected into my hip muscle in the evening during 1800-2000LT.

Thu 10Jan2013 (Day 7) : IVF-M 225 i.u. to be injected into my hip muscle in the evening during 1800-2000LT; also Orgalutran 0.25 mg into the upper arm.

Fri 11Jan2013 (Day 8) : Ultrasound.

Fri 11Jan2013 - Sun 13Jan2013 (Day 8 - Day 10) : IVF-M 225 i.u. to be injected into my hip muscle in the evening during 1800-2000LT; also Orgalutran 0.25 mg into the upper arm.

Mon 14Jan2013 (Day 11) : Ultrasound. Only one egg is big enough to be retrieved on Wednesday. At 2100LT, self-inject 0.25 mg of Ovidrel into the belly; 2 inches right apart from the bellybutton; using a prefilled syringe.


Tue 15Jan2013 (Day 12) : Halt water and food from midnight till tomorrow morning; the time for egg retrieval; to prevent nausea after being injected the painkiller.

Wed 16Jan2013 (day 13) : Only one egg is big enough to be retrieved.

- Crinone 8% Progesterone Vaginal Gel : Every night before bed, start today onwards.
- Duphaston 10 mg (Dydrogesterone) : One tablet after every meal, start today onwards.
- Salbutamol 2 mg : One tablet after every meal and before bed, totally 20 tablets, starts after tomorrow's dinner, lasts at lunch on Tue22Jan20113.

Fri 18Jan2013 (day 15) : Embryo transfer. 250 mg of Proluton Depot was injected into hip muscle 1 hour rest after the embryo transfer.

The lab scientist gave B+ for this embryo.

Fri 25Jan2013 (day 22) : 250 mg of Proluton Depot was injected into hip muscle.

Fri 1Feb2013 (day 29) : Blood test > Hormone does not increase > not pregnant

Still Yes or No

Fri 21Sep2012 (Day 28) : Woke up at 0445LT, P'Kaew at 0530LT. Left home at 0600LT. Reached Siriraj Hospital at 0630LT for a clotted blood test. The blood test room is at the outpatient building, opens 0530LT on weekdays and 0600LT during weekend.

Then we had our breakfast before going to wait for the result. At about 1000LT, I was called and we listened to the result together. My hormone level is at 110. The doctor said it is not high but there is still hope. I preserved my Yay!

More Duphaston, Crinone and Proluton Depot were prescribed and a nurse injected Proluton Depot into my hip muscle. P'Kaew brought me home before going on to work.

Embryo Transfer

Fri 07Sep2012 (Day 14) : 0730LT is the appointed time but the doctor was engaged in a surgical operation. So my embryo transfer was started around 1430LT!

I had no idea that I have to drink extra fluid as a fuller bladder provides the doctor with a better view of the uterus. The nurse served me 2 glasses of cold water before I lied down. The doctor said that only one egg was successfully combined with the sperm and the embryo does not look beautiful. After the embryo transfer, I was asked to lie down for one hour. Then the nurse injected 250 mg of Proluton Depot into my hip muscle. Two more box of Duphaston, one more box of Crinone 8% Progesterone Vaginal Gel, and a mini bottle of Proluton Depot were prescribed today.

Proluton Depot : Habitual and threatened abortion, infertility due to corpus luteum insufficiency, primary and secondary amenorrhoea.

Fri 14Sep2012 (Day 21) : Inject 250 mg of Proluton Depot into the hip muscle at a clinic near home.

Two Eggs in the Basket

Tue 04Sep2012 (Day 11) : 0700LT Eggs and sperm retrieval. Around 0800, I was injected with sleeping shot and then I was unconcious until 0930. I woke up with some bleeding. The nurse told that I have 2 eggs and the next appointment will be on Friday. Three medicines are prescribed today. 

P'Keaw brought me home before he went to work. The bleeding lessened and stopped after I had an afternoon nap at home.

Crinone 8% Progesterone Vaginal Gel : Treatment of infertility due to inadequate luteal phase. For use during in-vitro fertilisation, where infertility is mainly due to tubal, idiopathic or endometriosis linked sterility associated with normal ovulatory cycles. One time per night before bed, start on Wed 5Sep2012.

Duphaston 10 mg (Dydrogesterone) : For Progesterone deficiences. One tablet after meal, start on Wed 5Sep2012.

Salbutamol 2 mg : To relax the uterine smooth muscle to delay premature labor. One tablet after meal and before bead, start after dinner on Thu 6Sep2012.

My First-Time Self-Injection

Fri 31Aug2012 (Day 7) : 0730LT Ultrasound at Siriraj Hospital. Two desirable eggs are found in the right ovary but none on the left side. The doctor prescribed 6 more packs of IVF-M (75 i.u. each) and also 2 packs of Orgalutran (0.25 mg each).

Fri 31Aug2012 - Sat 01Sep2012 (Day 7 - Day 8) : during 1800-2000LT at a clinic nearby, 225 i.u. of IVF-M (3 packs) has to be injected into the hip muscle; and o.25 mg of Orgalutran into the upper arm each day.

Sun 02Sep2012 (Day 9) : at 2100LT, need to inject 0.25 mg of Ovidrel into the belly; 2 inches right apart from the bellybutton; using a prefilled syringe, by myself!

Ovidrel : is used in fertility treatment cycles to help follicles mature and trigger the release of mature eggs from a woman's ovaries following treatment with products containing the human follicle stimulating hormone.

Mon 03Sep2012 (Day 10) : halt food and water after midnight in order to be prepared for removing the ova from the ovaries on Tue 4Sep2012. 

To do list before the removal of the ova.

One Bigger Egg

Tue 28Aug2012 (Day 4) : 0730LT Ultrasound at Siriraj Hospital. One egg grows bigger than the others. The doctor prescribed 9 packs of IVF-M (75 i.u. each) and 3 packs of Orgalutran (0.25 mg each).

IVF-M : For stimulation of the development of multiple follicles (superovulation) in women undergoing Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART)

Orgalutran : For prevention of premature ovulation.

Tue 28Aug2012 - Thu 30Aug2012 (Day 4 - Day 6) : during 1800-2000LT at a clinic nearby, 225 i.u. of IVF-M (3 packs) has to be injected into the hip muscle; and o.25 mg of Orgalutran into the upper arm each day.

It's My Turn

After several attempts and failures with IUI (Intrauterine insemination) since Jan2012, we decided to queue up for an IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) and it's now my turn.

Thu 23Aug2012 : 0730LT My period seemed to arrive, so I went for an ultrasound at Siriraj Hospital to check the numbers of eggs and start the IVF process. The doctor prescribed 12 packs of IVF-M (75 i.u. each) and Folic Acid.

Indication : For stimulation of the development of multiple follicles (superovulation) in women undergoing Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART)

Fri 24Aug2012 : is actually the first day of my period 

Fri 24Aug2012 - Mon 27Aug2012 (Day 0 - Day 3) : during 1800-2000LT at a clinic nearby, 225 i.u. of IVF-M (3 packs) has to be injected into the hip muscle each day.

Sun 26Aug2012 (Day 2) : No clinic is openned today. We went to Thonburi Hospital instead.

Remarks : My hair becomes so greasy during IVF-M injection.
